The Animal Rescue League Shelter and Wildlife Center was formed in 1909 by a group of citizens with a shared concern for both animal welfare and the public health. We adhere to a strict philosophy of accepting all species, and our ability to provide care for such a wide variety of creatures makes the Animal Rescue League truly unique. We are the only shelter in the region that takes in and cares for both wild and domestic animals. If not for the Animal Rescue League's open door policy of accepting all domestic animals, regardless of age, health, or temperament, many of these precious animals would have nowhere to go. "Open Door" means that every animal finds shelter here, every day.
