Admit it, we’re all guilty. After a big meal you may feel obligated to share some of that great food with your dog, but feeding them food from the table is never the way to go. The food from your delicious dinner is often times much too fatty for your dog, and these fatty foods can upset your dogs stomach severely.<\/p>\n
Foods that have a high fat and\/or oil content, such as the foods commonly found on our tables, can lead to health problems quite severe for dogs. These problems include Diarrhea, Vomiting, Pancreatitis, and several other\u00a0complications. Another thing to keep in mind is that some food can be toxic to dogs. For example, onions. Any food containing or prepared with onions should never be fed to your dog. Onions contain an ingredient that causes\u00a0a disease\u00a0in dogs and cats called hemolytic anemia. This disease\u00a0causes the red blood cells in your pets body to burst.<\/p>\n
So you may be thinking that you can just remove those things from what your are feeding your little buddy. It’s\u00a0not just the contents of the food that is bad for your dog. If you constantly feed your dog from the table then it can become dependent on that food and refuse to eat its own dog food.\u00a0However, if you simply can not stop feeding your dog food from the table then following these simple rules can help keep your dog safe.<\/p>\n
1). Never feed your dog junk food. Fries, pizza, chips, and such foods are exactly the fatty\/oily foods that can hurt your dog.<\/p>\n
2). Use Moderation. Your dog does not need your leftover food after every meal as much as it may appreciate it. After feeding some of your food to your dog make sure to reduce the amount of its own food that you give it. This way they will not gain weight.<\/p>\n
