Last Hope was established in 1991 by Mona Schmitz as her life long dream to help abandoned and abused animals in her home town that no one else was caring for.

With the support of her mom Renate, she continued to organize the sanctuary and became a veterinary technician until her untimely death. As a memorial to her daughter, Renate Schmitz has tirelessly continued the work of Last Hope Cat Kingdom and never turned away from an animal she thought she could help.

Last Hope has established itself as one of the most respected no-kill sanctuary in the area. Despite the many highs and lows of running a non-profit, Last Hope has never swayed in it's work to help our animal friends who ask so little from us.

Last Hope continues to draw supporters both locally and from throughout the county.
