Partners for Pets of Troy, IL
It’s time to announce our next pet rescue of the month, Partners for Pets located in Troy, Illinois! Why we love this rescue? Just as so many rescues we have encountered, Partners for Pets started with a promise. A promise to make a difference in the lives of pets! Seventeen years later, you could say that promise came true. Partners for Pets has rescued over 16,000 dogs and cats from euthanasia… and that number grows each week.
The rescue’s founder, Lisa McCormick, was determined to start a pet rescue after visiting the local pound. She saw how many animals were affected by euthanasia and knew in her heart she wanted to make a difference. She began Partners for Pets in the year 2000 by keeping a small number of rescue animals in her living room. As their numbers grew, they were able to move into a larger barn and eventually to the beautiful facility they call home today.
Partners for Pets regularly visits animal control facilities and rescues animals in need. They then provide care to each animal prior to adoption.Lisa is also a huge supporter of promoting spay and neutering. Although Lisa can rescue animals all she wants, she explains that the only way to decrease the number of animals in the pound, more need to be spayed/neutered.
Partners for Pets has performed over 2,800 spay and neuter surgeries for low-income families in the community. Since the rescue started this service in 2012, there has been a noticeable decrease in number the of animals brought into the county pound. Euthanasia rates haven even gone down 40%. Wow, thank you, Partners for Pets for everything you do. We are proud to have you as a part of Best4Pets!
